About the event

In connection with the Silicon Valley Reads book, “Give Me a Sign” by Anna Sortino, we are offering a basic one-hour introductory American Sign Language (ASL) course. Basic concepts will include the Manual Alphabet, numbers 1-20, and some basic signs.

Do you know someone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing? Have you ever seen someone talking with their hands? Have you seen movies such as “CODA” or “Children of a Lesser God” and wondered how they can communicate like that? Being able to greet someone in their language and just knowing a few words—or in this case, signs—can turn a good interaction with someone into a great one. For anyone who has been curious to learn American Sign Language, this is the chance!
